League Nights

Indoor Leagues have become an integral part of the Nampa Bow Chiefs winter activities. Enjoy the winter in style by participating in one of the weekly Indoor League Events. We offer leagues for all shooters regardless of experience or age. League is not meant for only the advanced shooters - all skillsets are encouraged to join! It is a great way to practice in a low pressure environment.

Range Captains are available in the indoor facility during league to offer assistance if needed.

Any help (setting up targets, taking them down, selling score cards, etc.) you can give to make the league more successful would be greatly appreciated!

As a general rule below is the tentative outline of a typical League week; but please monitor the Calendar for a current listing of events offered.

Red Dot League

What is Red Dot League? you might ask. Red Dot League was started a long time ago by Bow Chief members who were looking for a way to get tuned up for upcoming 3-D shoots, the Western Trail Classic (the Redding Shoot) in particular.

For this league you will need at least 4 arrows and (if available) a bow stand. As a group, we shoot at different dot sizes from different yardages. Each shooter has a cardboard target that has 1 three inch dot, 2 two inch dots and 4 one inch dots. Score sheets are provided with 4 shooters and a list of each target distance and the dot sizes. Distances range from 2 yards to 28 yards. This gives you a chance to verify and practice using your slider or pins at these various close yardages.

For the first set, we shoot two arrows at a large dot from 26 yards and then we all move to 17 yards and shoot two arrows at the medium dots. The next set will start at 14 yards so we walk up, leave our bows at the 14 yard line and go up, score our arrows and pull them. The second set we shoot two arrows at 14 yards and then two arrows at 7 yards and continue from there.

Scoring: hitting the cardboard is 8 points, the dot is 10 points and the center of the dot is 11 points. This scoring system is like the scoring done in Redding. We shoot 2 arrows at 26 distances with a possible 572/26 11s.

Red Dot League will start in March and run through May on Monday at 7pm and will continue every Monday and Tuesday until the week before Redding. The cost will be $4 for members and $5 for nonmembers.

3-D Animal League

Beginning October through April on Friday nights at 7pm. 3D Animal Targets are setup at random locations and distances across the indoor shooting area. The targets locations and distances can change from week to week.
Each shooter shoots 2 targets at each numbered line (Shooter in lane 1 will shoot targets 1 and 2; Shooter in lane 2 will shoot targets 3 and 4)
Shooters will be assigned a starting target.
We will be using a Handicap system and Awards will be given at the end.
To be eligible for awards Adults must attend 7 league nights: no minimum for youth.
We are also going to be doing a random x-count each night. Cost $1 per night

Vegas 5 Spot

Beginning October through April on Tuesdays, at 7pm we will be shooting a Vegas 5 Spot 600 round. The cost is $5 per member, $6 per non-member per night. The first week is FREE.
This particular Vegas target has 5 spots (or you can use a single spot Vegas target, if you prefer). You will need at least 5 arrows. We shoot 5 arrows, 12 times (ends). The league is open to all ages, shooting styles and abilities. Scores are handicapped.
Each night, those that have a handicap will draw a lane number. You will be paired with the person drawing the same lane number as you and your handicapped scores will be combined at the end of the night. The pair with the highest score will each win a free league night.
We will be having an optional random X count drawing. Buy in will be $1. We will spin a virtual wheel from 0 through 30. Whoever shoots that number of X’s wins the pot. If more than 1 person wins the pot, they will split it. If no one wins, the pot rolls over to the next league night.
